and created critically acclaimed special make-up and creature effects sequences
including "Freddy's Chest of Souls" (see the home
page for a picture of it), "The Horror Pizza", Freddy's chest
hole, Alice's old-age make-up, and more.
After winning praise as director, and special effects make-up creator for his own "Friday the 13: Part 7", Renny Harlin (with whom Buechler had collaborated on "Prison" the previous year) called Buechler in to create some of the most talked about and finest make-up effects for the new "Nightmare." Buechler created the amazing Chest of Souls, a fully animatronic chest piece worn by Robert Englund, as Freddy, as well as the incredible Horror Pizza, where Freddy's victims had been reduced to pizza toppings, in the form of meatballs. Tiny animatronic meatball heads screamed in agnoy and pleaded for mercy as Freddy chowed down on them. Buechler also created the beautifully subtle old-age make-up worn by Lisa Wilcox as Alice during the Pizza sequence. Buechler did many more effects for the picture, and has been quoted as saying: "Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" has been one of the more satisfying effects assignments that I've ever had creatively."
